Overview
Ford viscosity cup (Ford Cup) is a standard test equipment for viscosity measurement of coatings, coatings and similar substances, commonly used for quality control and research and development in the coatings and coatings industry. The Ford-5 #Ford viscosity cup has an outflow aperture of 5.20mm, uses an aluminum alloy cup body and a stainless-steelbeaker nozzle, and has a viscosity measurement range of 215-1413cst. It is suitable for viscosity testing of coatings, paints and inks.
Features
1. Meet multiple standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
2. Using aluminum alloy cup body and 304 stainless steel nozzle, sturdy and durable.
3. The capacity is about 100ml, the outflow aperture is accurate to 5.20mm, and the measurement range is clear (215-1413cSt).
4. Suitable for viscosity testing of coatings, paints, inks and other liquids.
Principle
The Ford viscosity cup is based on the relationship between the flow rate and the viscosity of the liquid. The typical structure is a conical cup with a fixed hole at the bottom. During testing, the cup is filled with the liquid to be tested and fixed upside down, and the liquid flows out through the hole. The viscosity of the liquid can be assessed by measuring the time it takes for the liquid to completely flow out.
Applications
Paints, coatings, paints, inks
Standards
ASTM D1200、ASTM D333、ASTM D365
Steps
1. Clean and dry the Ford viscosity cup.
2. Inject the liquid to be tested into the cup until it is full.
3. Turn the cup upside down and fix it on the holder so that the liquid flows out of the bottom hole.
4. Timer measurement of the time required from the beginning of the flow of the liquid to the first interruption of the streamer.
5. According to the time of outflow, calculate the viscosity value of the liquid with reference to the standard conversion table or formula.
Notice
• Make sure the cup body and flow hole are clean, drying and free of residue before testing.
• Avoid bubbles when injecting liquid, so as not to affect the accuracy of measurement.
• Test Ambient Temperature should be kept stable as temperature affects liquid viscosity.
• Test in strict accordance with the operating procedures specified in the standard to ensure the comparability of results.
• After use, the instrument should be cleaned in time and kept properly.
