Surface Grinder

A surface grinder removes material from the surface layer by rotating a grinding disc in contact with the sample, utilizing abrasive friction. It is used to prepare flat and smooth inspection surfaces for observing internal structures or testing properties in quality inspections of materials such as metals and ceramics.
Selection
When selecting, consider matching the hardness of the specimen with the material of the grinding disc. Use diamond grinding discs for cast iron parts and silicon carbide for soft materials. Determine the grinding precision according to testing standards: coarse grinding uses P60–P120 grit abrasives, while fine grinding requires P2000 grit or higher. A cooling system prevents overheating. Manual models are suitable for irregular specimens, while automatic models are ideal for batch testing.
