Coating Thickness Measurement Meter

Coating thickness gauges operate based on the principles of magnetic induction or eddy currents. The probe contacts the coating, generating changes in the magnetic field. The device measures the differences in magnetic reluctance or electrical conductivity between the substrate and the coating, converting these into thickness values. They are used to detect the thickness of coatings such as paint or plating on metal substrates and to control coating quality in industries like automotive and shipbuilding.
Selection
When selecting, consider the substrate type: use magnetic induction for ferrous substrates and eddy current for non-ferrous substrates. The measurement range should cover the expected thickness, with accuracy determined according to process requirements. The probe shape should match the curvature of the measured part, as environmental temperature affects instrument stability. Portable types are suitable for on-site inspections, while fixed types are used for production lines.
