Paint Surface Coating Thickness Gauge

The paint coating thickness gauge measures coating thickness through magnetic induction or eddy current principles. The magnetic induction method is used for steel substrates, where changes in magnetic reluctance between the probe and the substrate reflect the thickness. The eddy current method is used for non-ferrous metals, where the alternating magnetic field generated by the probe induces eddy currents in the substrate, affecting the probe's impedance. The instrument directly displays the coating thickness value and is used for coating quality inspection in applications such as automobiles, ships, and steel structures.
Selection
When selecting a paint coating thickness gauge, it is necessary to confirm the substrate type (ferrous/non-ferrous/dual-use), ensure the measurement range covers the thickness of the coating to be tested, and verify that the accuracy meets the inspection requirements. Consider the probe size to suit the shape of the measurement area, and ensure that the calibration substrate is compatible. Portable models are suitable for on-site use, while fixed types are better for production lines. The environmental temperature and humidity should comply with the instrument's operating conditions.
