Catalytic Gas Sensor

Catalytic gas sensors operate on the principle of catalytic combustion. The detection element is coated with a catalyst, allowing flammable gases to undergo flameless combustion at a specific temperature upon contact. This combustion causes a change in the element's resistance, which is then converted into an electrical signal for output. These sensors are used to detect the concentration of flammable gases such as methane and are commonly employed in industrial safety monitoring and leak detection systems.
Selection
When selecting, consider matching the detection gas type with the sensor sensitivity, the impact of working environment temperature and humidity, compliance of explosion-proof rating with on-site requirements, the degree of cross-interference from other gases, service life and calibration cycles, as well as power consumption and compatibility of output signals with the existing system.
