Four-Probe Conductivity Meter

The four-point probe conductivity meter contacts the material surface with four equally spaced probes. The outer two probes apply a constant current, while the inner two probes measure the voltage drop. The resistivity is calculated based on the geometric dimensions. It is used to measure the bulk resistance of materials such as semiconductors and conductive films, avoiding the influence of contact resistance. It finds applications in the process inspection of silicon wafers and solar cells.
Selection
When selecting, consider the measurement range to cover the material's resistivity, ensure the probe spacing matches the sample size, and apply appropriate probe pressure to avoid damaging thin films. A stable constant current source and temperature compensation function are required. Choose between handheld or benchtop models based on the sample's form, and check the calibration certificate and protection rating.
