Paint Film Thickness Gauge

The paint film thickness gauge measures coating thickness through magnetic induction or eddy current principles. When the probe contacts the paint film, it generates changes in the electromagnetic field, calculating the difference at the interface between the substrate and the coating. It is used for on-site inspection of coating thickness in automobiles, ships, and steel structures to ensure construction complies with standards.
Selection
When selecting, consider the substrate type: use the magnetic induction principle for iron-based substrates and the eddy current principle for non-iron-based substrates. The measurement range should cover common coating thicknesses, with accuracy meeting the ±3% requirement. The probe size should be suitable for curved surface measurements, and the device's protection rating should be appropriate for on-site environments. Calibration requires the inclusion of standard calibration foils.
