Ultrasonic Coating Thickness Meter

The ultrasonic coating thickness gauge emits high-frequency sound waves through a probe onto the coating, receives echoes reflected from the substrate interface, and calculates the coating thickness based on the propagation time of the sound waves. It is used to measure the thickness of paints and coatings on substrates such as metals and plastics, enabling on-site inspection of coating quality in applications like steel structure corrosion protection and automotive manufacturing.
Selection
When selecting, consider the substrate type to match the probe frequency: use 5MHz for metal substrates and 2MHz for plastic. Choose high-frequency probes for thin coatings and low-frequency probes for thick coatings. Use small-diameter probes for curved workpieces and models with delay blocks for rough surfaces. The measurement range must cover the actual thickness, with an accuracy requirement of ±1~3%. Environmental temperature affects probe performance; specialized models are required for high-temperature conditions.
